Leeds United transfer target set for imminent move – in “progressed talks” with several clubs

Carlisle United youngster Liam McCarron could be set to make a move away from the League Two club imminently, with Championship side Leeds United among the sides keen on the youngster.

We reported here on The72 that Leeds United were stepping up their efforts to bring in Liam McCarron this summer. Now, it has been confirmed by Carlisle United manager Stephen Pressley that McCarron is nearing a departure from the club, with a number of clubs in “quite progressed talks” with the youngster.

It is believed that a £250,000 transfer fee will be enough to see McCarron leave the club this summer, with Premier League side Wolves also said keen on the youngster. Speaking about the development of McCarron’s situation, Pressley had this to say (quotes via HITC Sport):

“The club are in quite progressed talks with several clubs. I believe it is quite far down the line and something might happen quite imminently,” Sheridan said.

“That’s something the board and [director of football] David Holdsworth have been discussing. One thing I’ll stress is that the club won’t sell unless the right bids come in.

“But it is an opportunity he [McCarron] probably doesn’t want to turn down.”

McCarron broke into the first-team picture with Carlisle United during the 2018/19 League Two season, playing in 20 matches across all competitions in his first season of senior football. He came through the youth academy at Brunton Park before making his debut for the club in September 2018, coming off the bench against Tranmere Rovers.
