Nottingham Forest beat Preston North End to Premier League starlet deal

We reported here on The72 that Championship pair Nottingham Forest and Preston North End were both keen to bring Manchester City goalkeeper Arijanet Muric in on loan for the 2019/20 season. And now, it has emerged that one side has won the race for the youngster’s signature.

Nottingham Forest have beat Preston North End to the signature of Manchester City’s young goalkeeper Arijanet Muric, it has been reported by the Manchester Evening News.

He will reportedly make the move to join up with Martin O’Neill’s squad once the formalities of a deal are completed and is expected to spend the entire season on loan at the City Ground.

With first-team chances at Manchester City highly unlikely next season, Muric will head out to gather some much-needed first-team minutes next season. Claudio Bravo’s return from injury makes him the club’s second choice goalkeeper behind Brazilian star Ederson, who has hardly been dislodged since his arrival.

Muric played five times for Manchester City last season, with all of his appearances coming in the EFL Cup, keeping four clean sheets in their run to the final, where they defeated Chelsea on penalties.

The youngster is highly regarded at the Etihad Stadium and has continued to grow in the club’s youth sides since joining from Swiss side Grasshopper in 2015. He spent a short time on loan at NAC Breda last season, playing in just one game for the club before returning to England after an injury to Claudio Bravo early on during his stint with the Dutch side.

Now, with a move to Forest on the brink, City will be hoping he can go from strength to strength and enjoy a successful first Football League loan spell.
