The Portsmouth News has said that contrary to reports over the course of the past week, Portsmouth attacker Jamal Lowe has not yet submitted a request to leave Fratton Park this summer.

It has been widely reported over the course of the past few weeks that Portsmouth attacker Jamal Lowe is set to make a move away from the League One club after they failed to win promotion to the Championship. It was said that he had handed in a transfer request to try and force through a move away from Fratton Park.

However, it has now been claimed by The Portsmouth News that Lowe has in fact not yet asked to leave the club this summer, despite being unsettled. A number of Championship clubs have been linked with a move for Lowe this summer, including Leeds United, West Brom and Middlesbrough.

Lowe played a vital role in Kenny Jackett’s Portsmouth side last season. In 55 games across all competitions, Lowe netted 17 goals, laying on nine assists for his teammates along the way. Despite Lowe’s impressive goal and assists haul, they were not enough to fire Pompey to the Championship, falling at the hands of the eventual play-off final losers Sunderland in the play-off semi-finals.

Any club looking to buy Lowe from Pompey this summer will reportedly have to conjure up about £2.5 million. And with preparation for the new season well and truly underway, it may not be long until clubs start testing the resolve of Portsmouth over Lowe.
