West Brom linked with ex-Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa

West Brom are being linked with a surprise move for midfielder Shinji Kagawa.

The 30-year-old is set to leave Bundesliga side Borrusia Dortmund this summer and is wanted by Slaven Bilic’s Baggies, as per a report by Sport Witness.

Kagawa, who is a Japan international with 95 caps to his name, spent the second-half of last season on loan in the Turkey with Bilic’s former club Besiktas. He made 14 appearances for them and scored four goals.

The Super Lig side are believed to be interested in bringing back on a permanent deal this summer but will have to see off interest from West Brom.

Kagawa is a vastly experienced midfielder who has racked up over 400 games in his career. He started out in Japan with Cerezo Osaka before he was snapped up by Dortmund for just €350,000 in 2010.

He became a key player for the German side and made 71 appearances for them. He chipped in with 29 goals which earned a move to England with Manchester United in June 2012 for an initial fee of £12 million.

Kagawa spent two years at Old Trafford and helped the Red Devils win the Premier League title in 2013. He then returned to Dortmund in August 2014 and has been on their books ever since.

It would be some coup for West Brom if they brought Kagawa back to the UK this summer. However, he will take some persuading to drop into the Championship amid interest from Besiktas.
