Steve Bruce is being lined up as a replacement for outgoing manager Rafael Benitez according to HITC.

Newcastle United owner is said to be considering the former Sunderland manager as a potential suitor to replace current Geordie boss Rafael Benitez, but this news will not delight either set of supporters.

Benitez’ contract is up at the end of this week and an announcement earlier in the week confirmed that the Spaniard would be departing St James’ Park.

Fans of the North Eastern club will be devastated by this news as they believe Benitez to be the only reason they remain a Premier League club following several take-over flops and an owner who is unwilling to spend any money on new faces.

Not to mention the employment of a former Sunderland man who has a reputation of being more of a relegation fighter than a European spot pusher within the Premier League.

Similarly fans of Sheffield Wednesday will not be happy with this emerging story as it will again unsettle their preparations for the new season and place the club in an all too familiar position of finding a new boss.

Bruce made a big impact in South Yorkshire in the second half of last season, getting the team back on the tracks and heading in the right direction, but ultimately falling short of the play-offs. Something the Wednesday fans had no hope of before his arrival.

So what do the Newcastle fans think of this story and where would this leave Sheffield Wednesday as a club?
