Nottingham Forest and Preston North End are battling it out for Manchester City goalkeeper Aro Muric.
The 20-year-old is close to picking a loan club for next season, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.
The Championship duo have a decent chance of landing the highly-rated young shot stopper who is in need of some first-team experience.
Muric, who is 6ft 6inc, played five times for City last season in the League Cup. His contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in 2021.
The Swiss-born ‘keeper started his career with spells as a youngster at YF Juventus, FC Zurich and Grasshoppers before he moved to England to join the Blues in July 2017.
Muric has been a key player for City’s youth sides during his time in Manchester. He had a brief loan spell in the Dutch Eredivisie with NEC Breda last season but played just once before Pep Guardiola’s side recalled him as back-up.
He is also a Kosovo international with five caps to his name so far in his career having previously represented Montenegro at Under-21 level.
Muric would benefit from going out on loan and playing a full season in the Championship.
Nottingham Forest have been linked with him for a while as Martin O’Neill’s men hunt down a new ‘keeper for the next campaign.
Preston are an option for City though and they loaned out Lukas Nmecha to the Lilywhites last season so already have links with them.
