West Bromwich Albion are set to be snubbed by Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson according to Football Insider.
The right-back has reportedly been in talks with the Championship club regarding a possible transfer but there could be a spanner in the works as Celtic are interested in using Jenkinson as part of a deal which would see Kieran Tierney go in the opposite direction.
It is not yet clear whether Jenkinson would be part of the same deal as Tierney or whether it would be a separate transfer but with the lure of trophies and Champions League football, he may decide against a move to the Hawthorns in favour of Scotland.
Arsenal have offered £15million as well as a ‘one of their fringe players’ to Celtic to capture the signing of Tierney but Celtic rebuffed their offer as they are looking for around £20million for the full back who has been an instrumental part of their recent success.
Jenkinson has a £45,000-a-week contract at the Gunners and this could price West Brom out of a move for the 27-year-old and with Celtic also now interested, he may decide on a transfer to Celtic Park.
Jenkinson made just eight appearances at Arsenal last season and has accumulated just 70 appearances in total during his eight years at the club, despite being capped by England.
With Mason Holgate having returned to parent club Everton after being on loan at the Hawthorns and Allan Nyom unlikely to remain at the club, West Brom are desperate to improve in the full back areas.
Jenkinson has 18 months left on his Arsenal deal and Celtic are looking to increase competition in defence after losing Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa.
