Portsmouth attacker wants to leave

Portsmouth midfielder Jamal Lowe has told the Sky Bet League One club that he wants to leave this summer.

The winger has been linked with a host of clubs including Leeds, Cardiff and Wigan following a superb 2018/19 campaign.

Lowe scored 17 goals as Portsmouth won the Football League Trophy and secured a place in the end of season League One play-offs, losing out in the semi-finals to Sunderland.

The 24 year-old has one year remaining on his current deal at Fratton Park.

Lowe is one of the best attacking players in League One, and the winger is ready to make the step-up to the Championship.

The 24-year-old has pace and is full of tricks, and the winger will enhance the attacking unit of Leeds, West Brom or Middlesbrough, and will enhance their chances of finishing in the top six of the Championship next season.

Lowe, though, will not be a cheap signing, with London News Online claiming that Portsmouth value the winger at £3 million.

Pompey are reluctant to let both Brighton-bound Matt Clarke and Lowe leave this summer – and have the option to extend the latter’s contract, which expires in 2020, for another year.

Opinion:

Lowe is a great attacking player who has to be playing in the higher divisions next season.

Lowe played a vital role in Kenny Jackett’s Portsmouth side last season. In 55 games across all competitions, Lowe netted 17 goals, laying on nine assists for his teammates along the way. Despite Lowe’s impressive goal and assists haul, they were not enough to fire Pompey to the Championship, falling at the hands of the eventual play-off final losers Sunderland in the play-off semi-finals.

I think he will add a lot to whichever team he chooses as he may be raw but has a lot of pace and he looks to create chances from nothing.
