Sheffield United could hand Huddersfield Town midfielder a Premier League lifeline

Sheffield United are interested in Huddersfield Town midfielder Jonathan Hogg.

The Blades are keen to bolster their midfield options by landing the 30-year-old, as per a report by The Sun.

Hogg, who has a year left on his contract with the Terriers, is also attracting interest from Bundesliga side Schalke.

Sheffield United are in the hunt for some reinforcements to their squad ahead of their upcoming Premier League campaign. Chris Wilder’s side are yet to sign anyone this summer but are expected to get busy soon.

Hogg has played in the top flight during the past two seasons and the Blades are eager to bring in his experience into their ranks.

The Middlesbrough-born midfielder started his career at Boro before joining Aston Villa as a youngster in 2002. He went onto make seven appearances for their first-team and also had loan spells at Darlington and Portsmouth.

Hogg left Villa Park in August 2011 to join Watford for an undisclosed fee. He was a key player for the Hornets in his two years at the club in the Championship and played 84 times for them in all competitions.

Huddersfield snapped him up in 2013 and he has been with the Yorkshire side ever since, playing just under 200 games.

He played an integral part in their promotion to the Premier League in 2017 under David Wagner and helped them stay up in the top flight during their first season there.

This know-how is appealing to Sheffield United who could move for him over the coming days.
