Wigan Athletic joined by Bristol City and Brentford in chase for Premier League defender

We reported here on The72 earlier this week that Wigan Athletic were keen on Everton’s young left-back Antonee Robinson, and had lodged a £1.9 million bid to try and secure the services of the American.

Now, it has been reported by The Sun journalist Alan Nixon that Wigan Athletic have been joined by fellow Championship sides Bristol City and Brentford in the chase for Everton’s Antonee Robinson, who could make a move away from Goodison Park this summer.

Nixon reported the news on Sunday morning on his Twitter page, saying:

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with Wigan Athletic and now the Latics are reportedly looking to bring him back on a permanent basis. However, they are not alone in the battle for the 21-year-old.

Bristol City are in the market for a new left-back this summer after they sold academy graduate Lloyd Kelly to Premier League side Bournemouth in a big money move earlier in the summer transfer window and loanee Jay Dasilva returned to parent club Chelsea upon the end of the Robins’ season.

Brentford could also look to bring in a new left-back this summer to provide some competition and cover for Rico Henry, with youngster Tom Field the second option at Griffin Park.

The 21-year-old came through to youth academy at Everton and has spent two seasons on loan in the Football League gathering some first-team experience. Robinson has spent time with Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic during his senior career, playing 26 times for Wigan Athletic last season.
