Leeds United starlet Clarke – Spurs revisit with fresh bid

According to Football Insider’s Wayne Veysey, Leeds United are haing their mettle and resolve tested again by Premier League Spurs over their insistence on trying to hold on to starlet winger Jack Clarke.

The north London club’s interest in Whites teen star Clarke is widely known, indeed Spurs have had a bid turned down by Leeds United. However, Leeds’ resolve to keep hold of Clarke has again been tested, says Veysey, as they return with a second bid of £8m. This figure is, of course, far below the £20m valuation that the Whites have slapped on the youngster.

Clarke came to the attention of Leeds United fans after being used from the bench by Bielsa, his input creating an automatic impact. Since then he’s started the last couple of games, evidence of the faith that the Whites have in him.

That impact, obviously, comes at a price; that price being noticed by other sides – especially those higher up the football ladder. That’s been the case with Spurs who are said keen to tie up a deal for the 18-year-old, York-born youngster who’s had a season of much promise and untapped potential.

He featured in 22 Championship games for the Whites, games that returned two goals and two assists. Football Insider say that there does remain interest from other Premier League sides, such as Bournemouth and Southampton but it is Spurs who are firmly in the driving seat as things go.

Leeds United fans have been told by club owner Andrea Radrizzani to expect a ‘difficult’ transfer window; it’ll get a whole host more difficult should they decide to cash in on Jack Clarke.
