Huddersfield Town complete signing of Middlesbrough and Sunderland transfer target

Championship outfit Huddersfield Town have completed the signing of attacker Josh Koroma from League Two side Leyton Orient, confirming the arrival on their official club website.

It was reported by The Sun earlier this week that newly relegated Huddersfield Town were leading the chase to sign Leyton Orient’s exciting attacker Josh Koroma this summer, with fellow Championship side Middlesbrough and League One outfit Sunderland also credited with interest in Koroma.

However, the chase has come to an end, with Koroma’s move to Huddersfield Town being confirmed on Friday afternoon. The 20-year-old joins the Terriers on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee, with the deal also containing an option for the contract to be extended by another year.

He follows former Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick and Forest Green Rovers playmaker Reece Brown through the entrance door at The John Smith’s Stadium.

Speaking to the club website upon his arrival, Koroma said has that he was pleased to get the deal over the line, revealing Huddersfield have held interest in his services since January.

“I’m very happy, it’s been a long time coming. I’ve been linked with the Club since January so it’s good to finally get it over the line.

“Mainly because of the stature of the Club, the fans; I know how good the fans are. The Head Coach likes playing young players and I thought it was the best choice for my career.

“I just want to do as well as possible, hopefully, I can break into the team and show what I can do. You’ve just got to keep making steps in your career and this is the next step for me.

“I’ve met him (Jan Siewert) and he told me how he wants to play, and it suits me. As soon as I met him I knew I wanted to sign straight away.”

Koroma joins the club after a thoroughly successful season with Leyton Orient. He scored 11 goals and provided seven assists in 39 National League games for the O’s and will be hoping he can emulate last season’s form for his new club next season.
