Hull City closing in on Doncaster Rovers boss

Hull City are closing in on Doncaster Rovers boss Grant McCann.

The Tigers have sounded out the 39-year-old to replace Nigel Adkins, as per a report by Hull Live.

The likes of Michael Appleton, Danny Cowley, Sol Campbell and Paul Heckingbottom have all been linked with the Hull vacancy over the past week but it appears the Yorkshire side have found their man in McCann.

McCann, who is a former Northern Ireland international, took charge of League One side Doncaster last summer and guided them to the Play-Offs in his first season at the club.

He impressed in charge of the Keepmoat Stadium under a tight budget and got his side playing some attractive and attacking football.

Doncaster fans are desperate for him to stay at the club but the pull of a Championship side may be too much for their manager.

Prior to his move to Donny, McCann had a spell as Peterborough United boss for just shy of two years. His Posh side finished 11th in the third tier in his full season at the helm but he was sacked in February 2018 after a poor run of results.

McCann spent his playing days with the likes of West Ham United, Cheltenham Town, Barnsley, Scunthorpe United and Peterborough, racking up over 450 career appearances.

Hull will be hopeful of getting him appointed before their players return for pre-season on Monday and so they can start recruiting players for the upcoming campaign.
