Preston North End lining up reunion with West Ham striker

The Sun (20th July, Page 49) has claimed that Championship outfit Preston North End are keen on a reunion with West Ham United striker Jordan Hugill, who they sold for £8 million back in January 2018.

Preston North End manager Alex Neil is keen to bring in some new faces ahead of the 2019/20 Championship season, and they recently confirmed their first signing of the summer with Charlton Athletic defender Patrick Bauer making the move to Deepdale.

Now, it has been claimed by The Sun that Preston North End could look to bring former striker Jordan Hugill back to the club this summer, just a year and a half after selling him for a deal worth up to £10 million.

Hugill’s time with West Ham has not gone as he would’ve hoped. Since making the move to the club, he has played only three times for the club’s first team, going out on loan for the 2018/19 season in order to guarantee some game time. He spent last season with Middlesbrough, where he scored seven goals and provided two assists in 41 games across all competitions.

In his first spell with the club. Hugill scored 30 goals and provided six assists in 114 games for the club over the course of just over three and a half years playing for the club.

Neil is keen to bring Hugill back to the club this summer as he looks to take Preston up the Championship table. The finished in 14th place last season and he is now hoping that he can fire the club to the Championship play-offs.
