In the world of Leeds United, capturing players and losing out on players is par for the course, but when you show interest in a player and then make an offer for someone else, you would think that would be unforgivable, or maybe not.
Callum O’Dowda was on Leeds radar in January with Marcelo Bielsa said to be a fan, but, when Leeds decided to make an offer for Daniel James of Swansea instead, ultimately agreeing a fee, agreeing personal terms, shooting a “welcome to Leeds” clip and practically announcing the deal on Twitter, before the men in charge at Swansea ignored phone calls until after the window had shut, meant it was too late to revisit any other targets, such as O’Dowda.
This left Leeds with egg on their face and short of a creative player on the wing.
However, given that James has now joined Manchester United, The Whites will not be able to revisit South Wales in the search of a new deal being agreed, so, do they go back in for the Bristol winger?
It now transpires, as reported by FLW, that Callum O’Dowda has rejected three new contract offers from The Robins in the hope that Leeds United will again come knocking.
Apparently a source close to the winger revealed that the 24-year-old, whop played thirty one games last season, scoring four goals and providing five assists along the way, has his heart set on a move to Leeds United.
It appears that the West Yorkshire club have yet to revisit the possibility of signing the Irishman and no bid has ever been placed for him, but he would fit the Bielsa mould, the Bielsa system, so it could be a good option if the manager believes the player is a good fit.
With the new fixture release it now appears the Leeds will travel to Ashton Gate on the opening day of the new season, Sunday 4th August, 16:30 K.O, live on Sky Sports, so it could be a very interesting game indeed, especially for O’Dowda.
How would the Whites fans react to signing the winger?
