Millwall are close to offloading their youth winger Samuel Edozie to Manchester City, South London Press understands.
Edozie (16) is set to join The Citizens following his parent club and the Premier League champions agreed a compensation package.
It is understood that The Lions attempted to keep Edozie at The Den, offering his a scholarship which was ultimately turned down, so the South London club made it their mission to get the best deal possible for the club when they understood that City were prowling.
It is understood that the compensation figure will rise to above £1m with eventual add-ons, it is also understood that City beat Chelsea to the Nigerian wonder-kids signature in the process.
What does this deal mean in terms of fan reaction?
Does it show a lack of ambition in Millwall allowing young talent to leave the club, giving the fans the idea that the club are willing to develop youngsters just to sell them on?
Is it all down to agents weaning every penny out of a deal too early in a kids development?
Or is this just a true eye-opener, just another reminder that, when the big boys come calling with their bulging wallets and flashing lights making it just too tempting for any young player, and their agents, to turn down?
How to the Millwall fans feel about this?
