According to the Daily Mail’s Mail Online website, Derby County could soon be looking for a new boss with Frank Lampard enjoying a few days of sun “while he prepares for talks” with managerless Chelsea.
Even before Maurizio Sarri left the Blues, it was widely reported that the man in their sights was former Stamford Bridge legend Lampard. The much-capped England midfielder had just finished his first season in management at Pride Park, guiding the Rams to the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final.
It was a game which ended in defeat for Derby, and promotion for their victors Aston Villa. It also looks increasingly like being his last game in charge of the Rams, that is if current reports are to be believed.

The above Instagram post, from Lampard’s wife Christine, shows the couple on holiday ands it is a snap that the Mail Online’s Nathan Salt says shows the Derby manager looking “relaxed” and “all smiles despite the uncertainty over his future.”
The article goes on to say that the location of the photograph remains a mystery, but they are adamant that Lampard is “scheduled to meet Chelsea owner [Roman] Abramovich in the coming days to finalise his return to Stamford Bridge as manager.”
Derby are thought not to want to lose Lampard as their boss, he does have two years left on his current deal. However, they are realistic about the pull that a return to his former club would present to Frank Lampard and would not stand in his way.
