In a post-season where there is an agonising wait for the action to restart, fans are left twiddling their thumbs and kicking their heels as they wait for something, anything to happen with their club.
Anything will do and the early fare is usually linked to transfers, both signings and rumours alike. That’s the same at all clubs and with all fans as those on the terraces eagerly look to how their side might be shaping up ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Leeds United fans, like all fans, can count themselves as heavily invested in this process. This is a fanbase that has already been told by the club owner to expect a ‘difficult’ transfer window this summer as the Whites look to sail through the oft choppy waters of the EFL’s FFP regulations. Not only are these waters choppy, they are also tricky to navigate.
Already they have had to put up with tales of Premier League vultures circling for starlet jack Clarke and star player Kalvin Phillips. They were a side reborn under Marcelo Bielsa last season, the legendary Argentinian coming back for a second bite of the Championship cherry.
There has been some good news for Whites fans, it hasn’t all been gathering gloom and doom. That good news has come in the shape of the club showing “ambitious interest” in Wolves attacking winger Helder Costa. Costa was once Wolves’ record buy, a £13.5m arrival from Portuguese giants Benfica.
That sort of rumour is usually scoffed at and dismissed as pure fantasy or something dreamed up as a by-product of too much Football Manager and not enough sleep. However, unlike many more fanciful tales of transfer links, it seems that this one has legs – so to speak.
Here’s how some Leeds United fans are STILL reacting to the Costa links.
Leeds United fans hoping for a takeaway Costa but not at star bucks
There’ll be more than a few Leeds United fans feeling like this guy.

It’s always a difficult one when you try to balance out gain and loss in terms of players in and out of a club.
I know people don't wanna hear it but if selling Clarke means keeping KP and signing Costa then I'm sorry but that's good business aswell considering it will fund the rest of our summer aswell. Will be missed like but we end up better off in the end 🤷♂️ #LUFC

The ever-changing mood could swing anyway between now and the end of the week.
Wednesday:
Mood on #LUFC Twitter a little unsettled, some rumours about Clarke and Costa but I'm sure we'll be OK without Phil.
Friday:
YEP building destroyed, Victor Orta moved to a safe house, Berardi sitting in front of a burning Elland Road casually drinking from a skull.
