Hearts and Hibernian set to join the battle for MK Dons midfield ace

Bitter Edinburgh rivals Hearts and Hibernian are believed to be ready to join the race to sign MK Dons midfielder Chuks Aneke according to reports by the Edinburgh Evening News.

The 25-year-old Newham-born midfielder has impressed at Stadium MK since his arrival at The Dons almost three years ago and it is understood that a whole host of clubs are chasing his signature this summer.

The72 reported earlier that Barnsley, Hull City, Portsmouth and Wigan Athletic are all keen on the player and according to the latest news from north of the border, Ladbrokes Premiership pair Hearts and Hibs are also hoping to land Aneke.

After failing to make a first team outing for Arsenal at the beginning of his career, Aneke was released by the club in summer 2014 and opted to join Belgian club Zulte Waregem. Injuries restricted the midfielder to making 41 appearances in two seasons with the club in which he scored four goals.

Aneke then moved on to MK Dons and he has become a real star for the club after battling off the back end of his injury. The player scored 17 goals in just 38 appearances for The Dons in the league this season as they won promotion from Sky Bet League Two at the first attempt.

The player will become a free agent at the end of the month and is therefore open to offers from potential new employers.
