Birmingham City have stunned supporters with the dismissal of manager Garry Monk, as announced by the club’s official website

The 40-year-old proved popular with the St Andrew’s faithful and steered the club to safety in the Championship despite being dealt the blow of a ten-point deduction.

However, his tenure has come to an end as Birmingham’s board of directors believe that his departure is in the club’s long-term interests.

The news was met with fury from Birmingham supporters, the vast majority of which laid the blame at the door of the board:
