According to Sky Sports (17th June at 17:24pm), Middlesbrough are pursuing a deal for Ostersunds FK winger Hosam Aiesh.
Ostersunds FK wide midfielder Aiesh has been attracting attention from several Championship clubs, including Leeds United, Reading and Nottingham Forest in recent weeks. Now Middlesbrough are another to add to the long list of suitors.
The 24-year old is reportedly available for around £2 million and could be a vital addition to any Championship side chasing promotion.
David Webb, the English Technical Director at Ostersunds FK told Sky Sports: “Aiesh has the quality to make it in higher leagues in Europe – including the Championship.” His words have placed clubs, in the second tier in particular, on high alert.
As well as Leeds, Boro, Reading and Forest, Aeish is interesting clubs from overseas, with Russian side and former-Europa League finalists FC Rostov, French club Amiens and Swiss giants FC Basel all keen.
Aiesh made his international bow for Sweden earlier this year in January, starting a friendly against Finland, a game in which they lost 1-0. He was in the squad for the following friendly against Iceland but didn’t receive a call up to the recent European Qualifiers in May.
The winger could be known in England already after he was part of the Ostersunds FK side that shocked Arsenal in the Europa League last year, beating them 2-1 at the Emirates.
Aiesh scored the opening goal of the night, however the Swedish side lost on aggregate with Arsene Wenger’s side having won the first leg 2-0, thus progressing 3-2 across the two legs.
