Burnley have launched a bid to sign Brentford striker Neal Maupay.

The Premier League side are keen to land the £20 million-rated forward this summer, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

Maupay is a man in-demand and is also attracting interest from top flight duo Aston Villa and Sheffield United, as well as Spanish La Liga side Seville.

However, Burnley are looking to step up their bid to bring him to Turf Moor as Sean Dyche aims to bolster his sides’ attacking options. They are likely to start their bidding at £15 million, though Brentford are likely to ask for more.

Maupay, who is 22-years old, has scored 41 times in 95 appearances in all competitions for the Bees and is expected to leave the Championship side this summer.

Prior to his move to London, Maupay started his career at Nice and played 53 times for their first-team before moving onto Saint-Étienne. He spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Ligue 2 side Brest, where he bagged 12 goals.

Brentford signed him for just £1.6 million and he has turned out to be an inspired signing by them as they look set to make a hefty profit on him.

The Bees have also recently turned down a bid from Villa for winger Said Benrahma as they hold out for as much money as possible. Their transfer policy has once again come to fruition and the London side have proven they are a great model to other Championship sides.
