Norwich City set to seal signing of departing Arsenal starlet

According to the Daily Record, newly promoted Norwich City are set to complete the signing of young midfielder Charlie Gilmour, who will be leaving Arsenal upon the expiry of his contract.

To the surprise of Arsenal fans, the Gunners confirmed that young midfielder Charlie Gilmour would be among those leaving the Premier League club upon the expiry of his contract with the club. But, it appears that it has not taken him long to find a new club ahead of the 2019/20 season.

And he seems set to be remaining in the Premier League. Championship winners Norwich City have reportedly reached an agreement to bring the youngster to Carrow Road on a free transfer. The Canaries beat off competition from Scottish Premiership side Rangers to the signing of Gilmour, who is expected to complete his move to Norwich imminently.

The midfielder, who can play as an attacking midfielder or a defensive midfielder leaves Arsenal after coming through the club’s academy. Gilmour joined the club back in 2006 at the age just six and will be bringing an end to a 13-year association with the club when his contract expires.

After working his way through the club’s youth academy, Gilmour went on to play 15 times for Arsenal’s Under-18s side, scoring three goals and providing one assist from midfield. The 20-year-old played 32 times for the club’s Under-23s, scoring seven goals and laying on two assists along the way. Gilmour made two appearances for the club’s senior team, making two substitute appearances in their 2018/19 Europa League campaign.
