Cardiff City are set to seal the signing of Rotherham midfielder Will Vaulks in the next 24 hours according to the Daily Mail.
They are set to pay in the region of £1.5million for Vaulks as they look to win the race to sign him. Derby County and Norwich City were also reportedly interested but it looks as though the Bluebirds will capture the signing of the midfielder.
The 25-year-old has been loyal to The Millers over the last three years, staying in Yorkshire despite being linked with a move elsewhere on a number of occasions. However, it does now seem that he is ready to make a move after Rotherham were relegated back to League One in May.
The former Falkirk player has reportedly agreed personal terms and could be unveiled as a Cardiff City player within the next 24 hours. For just £1.5million this could be one of the bargain buys of the summer for someone who excelled for Rotherham last season despite being unable to prevent their relegation.
There is no doubt that a player of Vaulks’ quality is good enough to play in the Championship and Rotherham will be extremely disappointed to lose their prized asset.
Derby County would have also liked to sign Vaulks with their midfielders Craig Bryson being out of contract and Mason Mount having returned to parent club Chelsea, he would have provided some much needed competition in central midfield.
Cardiff manager Neil Warnock who has agreed to stay on at the Cardiff City stadium after a turbulent year will be delighted to sign the Rotherham captain should the deal be completed as he will be a great asset to them as they build up to another season in the Championship following their relegation last term.
