Aston Villa complete signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender

Aston Villa have today completed the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kortney Hause as confirmed on their official website.

Villa boss Dean Smith has captured their third summer signing with Hause as he joins from local rivals Wolves on a permanent deal.

Hause spent the second half of last season on loan at the newly promoted club and impressed with a string of performances as he made 12 appearances during their promotion winning campaign.

A club statement said: “Aston Villa have taken up the option to permanently transfer Kortney Hause from Wolverhampton Wanderers.”

“The 23-year-old, who has represented England at Under-20 and Under-21 level, becomes the club’s third signing since winning promotion to the Premier League.”

Jota from Birmingham City and El Ghazi from Lille have already joined the Villans and Hause is the third to arrive in a summer transfer window which is bound to be full of new faces as Smith aims to retain their top flight status next season.

Hause began his career at Wycombe and headed for Wolves as an 18-year-old, making 80 appearances either side of a loan spell at Gillingham.

With Tyrone Mings having returned to parent club Bournemouth at least for the moment although Villa are also looking to capture him on a permanent basis for next season along with the unlikely return of Tuanzebe, it was important that Aston Villa looked to bolster their defensive ranks for their return to the Premier League.

Perhaps Hause won’t be a regular in the starting eleven for next season but he will certainly provide more than adequate cover in their defensive line up.

Villa have also agreed a deal with Club Brugge, subject to work permit and international clearance, for 22-year-old Brazilian striker Wesley Moraes.
