West Brom eager to bring Newcastle United striker back

West Brom want to sign Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle permanently this summer.

The new Baggies boss Slaven Bilic is keen to bring him to The Hawthorns, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

The 28-year-old impressed on loan with West Brom last season and scored 24 goals in all competitions. He could now return to the Midlands as part of a deal for Salomon Rondon to go the other way to Newcastle.

Career so far…

Gayle made his name at Dagenham and Redbridge and signed for Peterborough United in the Championship in 2012. After scoring 13 goals in 29 games for the Posh, he was snapped up by Premier League side Crystal Palace in July 2013 for around £4.5 million.

He scored 25 goals in 74 games for the Eagles but left them in July 2016 to join Newcastle in the Championship. He scored 23 goals to fire the Toon back into the Premier League under Rafa Benitez, but only managed six goals in the top flight in the 2017/18 season.

Good fit at West Brom…

The proven goal scorer seemed to enjoy his loan spell with the Baggies in the last campaign and bringing him back would be a great bit of business by them.

It is a new era for West Brom under Bilic and their fans will be excited to see what lies in store for them next season. They need a big summer if they are to return to the Premier League.
