Hull City draw up managerial shortlist- Talks expected early next week

Hull City have drawn up a shortlist of potential managers.

The Tigers will speak to the candidates early next week, according to a report by Hull Live.

The Championship side are in the hunt for a replacement for Nigel Adkins, who turned down a new contract offer from the club earlier this week.

Lincoln City’s Danny Cowley remains one of the frontrunners for the vacant position. However, there are doubts as to whether he will leave the now League One side.

Tony Pennock, who was Adkins’ first-team coach at the KCOM Stadium, is another option for Hull and will lead the team into pre-season in ten days time if a new boss isn’t found by then.

Former Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Portsmouth and Oxford United manager Michael Appleton is another man who has been linked with the post. He is keen to get back into the dugout and knows what it is like to work under difficult circumstances.

Other names that have been mentioned are Hibernian boss Paul Heckingbottom, Liam Rosenior and Steve McClaren.

Heckingbottom did a good job at Barnsley before struggling at Leeds United but has managed to get his career back on track in the Scottish Premiership.

Rosenior, on the other hand, spent five years as a player with the Tigers so knows the club inside out. It could be a risk giving the job to someone inexperienced though, hence why options like McClaren or Simon Grayson may be admirable.
