New Plymouth Argyle manager Ryan Lowe is hoping to arrange a glamorous pre-season date with Glasgow giants Rangers according to Plymouth Live.
Lowe has reportedly been in contact with The Gers boss and close friend Steven Gerrard to discuss the possibility of the Ibrox club taking on Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.
It is understood that Rangers may struggle to arrange a trip down to Devon with three pre-season games already arranged in July, all of which will be staged north of the border. The Gers will also face qualifiers for the UEFA Europa League leaving little space for further scheduling.
Should a pre-season fixture between Plymouth Argyle and Rangers be agreed, it would be the second time in 12 months which Greens boss Lowe will have taken on Gerrard. Lowe took his former side Bury to Ibrox last July and they suffered a heavy 6-0 demolition by the Glasgow side.
Despite failing to win a trophy this season, there has been on-field progress for Rangers under Gerrard’s leadership. The club finished just nine points behind champions Celtic in the title race and they will be aiming to close in on The Bhoys next term.
Plymouth Argyle face a rebuilding job under Lowe with the club having fallien through the relegation trapdoor in Sky Bet League One. They return to the fourth tier for the first time since 2016/2017.
