Reported Barnsley and Bristol City target poised to complete Celtic move

Reported Barnsley and Bristol City transfer target David Turnbull is set to complete a move to Glasgow giants Celtic with the club having had a reported £3 million transfer bid accepted for the player by Motherwell according to BBC Sport.

Sky Bet Championship new boys Barnsley are believed to have had an offer for the midfielder rejected by Motherwell earlier this week with the transfer fee being £1 million under valuation while Bristol City are also said to have been monitoring the situation.

After having an initial transfer offer rejected themselves, Ladbrokes Championship club Celtic have returned with a £3 million bid for Turnbull in the last 48 hours and Motherwell have now agreed to allow the 19-year-old to leave Fir Park.

Turnbull was born in nearby Carluke and the youngster has been on Motherwell’s books since the age of just 10. The midfielder successfully negotiated his way through the club’s academy system and made his senior debut in a William Hill Scottish Cup tie against Dundee in February 2018.

Since being given his first outing by The Steelmen, Turnbull has gone on to make 33 further appearances for the club while he scored his first career goal against St Mirren last October.

Turnbull will become Motherwell’s record sale once he completes his move to Celtic Park, beating a record which has stood for 25 years.
