Sheffield Wednesday are on the brink of signing defender

Sheffield Wednesday are looking to re-strengthen their squad this summer under the guidance of experienced Steve Bruce.

According to a report from The Sun (12/6; page 52), Moses Odubajo is on the brink of completing a move to Sheffield Wednesday following his departure from Brentford this summer.

Odubajo is a free agent after spending the past campaign enjoying a second spell with the Bees. During his time at Griffin Park, he played 30 times in the Championship, with a further five appearances coming in the cup competition

The return to Brentford allowed Odubajo to prove that his previous fitness problems are behind him. He did not play a single game during the final two years of his spell with Hull City.

In fact, as reported by The Star, Bruce signed Odubajo for Hull from Brentford in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee of £3.5 million.

According to WhoScored, Odubajo made 22 starts and eight substitute appearances in the Championship for Brentford this season, providing one assist in the process.

Brentford and Wednesday both finished on 64 points from 46 matches in the Championship this season, and will be aiming for the top six next season.

Sheffield Wednesday have already seen one of their full-backs, Achraf Lazaar, leave at the end of his loan spell, while another could follow if Liam Palmer fails to renew his contract.

Odubajo, who began life as a winger at Leyton Orient, can play on either side despite being predominantly right-footed.

The 25-year-old has played 117 times at Championship level, scoring or making 11 goals, and was promoted from the division with Bruce at Hull.
