Ryan Lowe speaks about his move to Plymouth

Ryan Lowe has spoken out after his drop down in divisions to Plymouth Argyle.

Plymouth manager Ryan Lowe says he dropped back down to League Two in order to further his career.

Lowe guided Bury to promotion last season but, with the club in severe financial difficulty, he opted to join Plymouth, who were relegated from Sky Bet League One.

“It means a lot, this is a fantastic club with a fantastic fan base. It’s a big club for me,” he told Sky Sports News.

“When I got the opportunity I was relishing it and I am over the moon to be the Argyle manager.

“Everything about the club and fanbase [convinced me]. I’ve taken a step back to take two steps forward.

“I was a League One manager but circumstances have changed that.

“The situation going on at Bury was unfortunate, I hope that it gets resolved very quickly.

“When a fantastic football club like Argyle come calling for you it’s a no-brainer.

“I am here to hopefully be successful and bring the good times back.”

Ryan Lowe has described as ‘very good’ the playing budget he has been given as Plymouth Argyle manager.

The relegated Pilgrims will be looking to bounce back to League One at the first attempt under their new boss next season.

Lowe has also highlighted the importance of his working relationship with Andrew Parkinson, the club’s recently-appointed chief executive.

Parkinson was heavily involved in the recruitment process of Lowe, along with chairman Simon Hallett and Zac Newton, the Pilgrims’ head of HR.

When asked by Plymouth Live about the budget he would have to work with, Lowe replied: “It’s very good. I won’t disclose it but we are happy.

“It’s a big part of when you want to be successful because you want to get the best players possible.

“I’m over the moon with that, and over the moon I’m going to be working with Andrew very closely.
