Doncaster Rovers manager Grant McCann has said that “everyone is after” loan stars Mallik Wilks and Herbie Kane this summer, after strong loan spells at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Forward Mallik Wilks joined Doncaster Rovers from Leeds United at the start of the 2018/19 League One season and went on to enjoy a thoroughly successful spell with the club. Wilks scored 16 goals for Donny over the course of the season, assisting 12 goals in 55 games across all competitions.

Midfielder Herbie Kane also enjoyed a successful loan spell with Doncaster Rovers in his first season of senior football. He played 49 times for the club, scoring seven goals and providing 10 assists.

Now, speaking to Leeds Live, Doncaster manager Grant McCann has lauded praise on Leeds United youngster Wilks and Liverpool starlet Kane. He said:

“These two boys came in and no one knew them, everyone was wondering what to expect. They went from strength to strength and now everyone is after them, it gives you a sense of pride in the job.”

After a strong season with Doncaster, Wilks could be set for another loan move to either League One or maybe the Championship. Marcelo Bielsa has often used youngsters during his time at Elland Roa, so he could look to blood him into the club’s first-team, also spending time with Carlos Corberan’s Under-23s.

Herbie Kane is attracting Championship interest this summer. It was reported here on The72 that Championship duo Brentford and Millwall are interested in Kane, who will be looking to gather more first-them experience away from Anfield.
