Napoli interested in shock move for former-Middlesbrough winger linked with return

As reported on The72 in January, Middlesbrough enquired about a return to The Riverside for fan-favourite Adama Traore.

However, nothing came to fruition, with Adama opting against joining Middlesbrough in the hope of nailing down a place at current club Wolves.

Since arriving at Molineux last summer, Traore has started just eight Premier League games, scoring one goal and registering one assist in that time.

Now manager Nuno Espirito Santo is looking to move the Spain under-21 international on having not impressed since his £18 million transfer last year.

According to reports in Italy (via Teesside Live), one side who are interested in pursuing a deal for the winger are Italian giants Napoli. The Serie A side had previously been keen on PSV wide man Hirving Lozano, but having been priced out of a move, they have turned their attention to Traore instead.

He has endured a difficult first season at Wolves. Playing in fits and starts has not helped, and fans have been left disappointed following his successful season at Middlesbrough the season prior to signing.

During his last campaign at Boro he registered 12 assists and scored five goals, which prompted a host of clubs to pose an interest. Wolves were the club that came calling, and ultimately smashed their transfer record to acquire the speedy winger’s services.

New boss “Nuno” remained loyal to the players that had got Wolves promoted at the start of the season, and when Traore’s chance came he was limited to substitute appearances, and starts in unfamiliar positions, such as at right wing-back and striker.
