Leeds United to upset Rangers hopes with winger approach

According to the Football Insider website, Leeds United might be about to throw a big spanner in the works for Rangers with a loan approach for Liverpool winger Ryan Kent.

Kent spent last season on loan at Ibrox and Rangers boss Steven Gerrard, himself an Anfield legend, was more than keen to bring the young winger back on another loan deal.

During the young Liverpool starlet’s loan to the SPL club, Rangers fans got to see flashes of just why Liverpool rate him so highly. Oldham-born Kent featured in 23 SPL games for the Gers, scoring six goals and adding six assists in performances that impressed.

He also featured in six Europa League Qualifying games (one assist) for Rangers as well as three games in the Europa League proper. In total he featured in 43 games for the Scottish side, totalling six goals and nine assists.

Football Insider, in an article authored by Wayne Veysey, say that Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United are one of a whole host of sides that are asking about the availability of Kent and his Liverpool teammate Harry Wilson.

Football Insider say that “Leeds United have made approaches” for the pair in order to “step up plans to reinforce their attacking arsenal.”

Leeds United have already warned their fans that the club will be running what they termed a ‘difficult’ window as the ramifications of FFP regulations cut into both themselves and other clubs. Temporary deals through the loan market are seen as the way to doing this.

However, this could all be scuppered in Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp decides to develop Kent in-house or to cash in on his potential with a sale. Should the latter happen, there’s little to no chance that Whites fans will be seeing the exciting winger at Elland Road next season.
