Leeds United interested in Wolverhampton Wanderers winger

Leeds United are interested in a loan move for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Helder Costa, according to the Football Insider.

Marcelo Bielsa is believed to have made signing wingers a priority this summer and the club have already been linked with signing Manchester City pair Jack Harrison and Brandon Barker.

Birmingham Live reported last month that both Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro are free to leave Molineux during the window after both fell down the pecking order in the second half of last season.

After Nuno Espirito-Santo’s men secured a Europa League spot in their first season back in the top flight, they are set to be in for a busy summer of incomings, meaning the 25-year old could fall even further out of the former Porto manager’s plans.

Wolves paid £13m to bring the Portuguese winger to the West Midlands and in the process broke the club’s transfer record. However, with the Whites reportedly operating on a tight budget this summer, a loan deal is more likely.

Costa, who scored a goal on his international debut for Portugal last year, played an integral role in Wolves’ Championship title winning season in 2017/18. He made 38 appearances, scoring five goals and assisting six.

The former Benfica and Monaco man played 25 times in the Premier League last term, but found starts hard to come by in the second half of the season when Santo altered the formation from 3-4-3 to 3-5-2.

Given Costa’s excellent performances during the two seasons he was at Molineux in the Championship, should Bielsa manage to lure him to Elland Road, that would be some coup.
