Blackburn Rovers will face a glamour trip to Ibrox to take on Glasgow giants Rangers during their pre-season schedule the club have announced.
Rovers finished the 2018/2019 Sky Bet Championship campaign in 15th position but flirted with the play-offs at one point during the season.
Tony Mowbray’s side will kick-off their pre-season programme in early July and it has been revealed that the Lancashire club will travel to Rangers in one of their six friendly fixtures announced to date. Rovers will face The Gers at Ibrox on Sunday 21 July with the match scheduled to kick-off at 3pm. Ticket details will be announced in due course, although the club are expected to take a sizeable following with them to Glasgow.
Rovers begin their pre-season schedule with a trip to Barrow on 6 July before taking on Rochdale AFC at the Crown Oil Arena eight days later. Mowbray’s side will then face Mansfield Town at the One Call Stadium on 17 July ahead of their meeting with Rangers. Local derbies at Bury (24 July) and Blackpool (27 July) will complete Rovers’ pre-season programme.
The 2019/2020 Sky Bet Championship season will kick-off on the weekend of the 3-4 August with one fixture expected to be brought forward to be televised on 2 August.
