Burton Albion plotting move for Plymouth Argyle playmaker

Burton Albion are plotting a move to sign Plymouth Argyle’s Graham Carey according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon.

Even though the Brewers might have wanted to have a bigger challenge for promotion, they would still have been pleased with a 9th place finish in Sky Bet League One this season. But they will want to improve on that going into next season and bring in players who can take them into the play-offs next season. And this report indicates they are planning to go for a player who has impressed at this level before.

This report from Alan Nixon has stated that they are in the race to sign Carey from Plymouth. The 30-year-old midfielder usually plays in an advanced position has been at the Pilgrims for four years now and has been very impressive over that time, making 164 league appearances and scoring 65 goals in that time. But he was unable to stop Plymouth from being relegated from League One this season and if he wants to continue playing in this division, he will have to move.

With Carey being a free agent, this would be an easy coup for Burton. They have to work on a limited budget and bringing in a player who has had a big impact at this level before on a free transfer would be a very astute signing for them. But they may end up facing a lot of competition for his signature as plenty of other teams in League One will also see Carey as a potential top signing.
