Two released Crystal Palace players who would be good signings for EFL sides

While more money is being spent in the Sky Bet Championship than ever, the free agency market is still very important.

Even though so many teams spent a lot of money last year, the man who was voted as the best player in the EFL was Teemu Pukki, a free transfer. So any team really wanting to improve their squad will need to scour all the free agents available as that’s where they could get some very important players.

So let’s give them a helping hand and see which players Burnley have released this summer which would be a good signing for a team in the EFL.

Jason Puncheon

While this release was always on the cards after being loaned out to Huddersfield Town, his form for Palace before that will make his departure a sad one. But it’s that form which should land him a pretty lucrative contract with a team in the upper half of the Championship. There are a lot of teams that need a difference maker who can just push them up to that top six spot and I think that Puncheon, despite his age, could be that man for a number of teams.

Julian Speroni

15 years. Spending 15 years at one club is incredible and I think that seeing him leave Crystal Palace is something really sad. But over 370 appearances later, Speroni is going and if he doesn’t decide to retire, a Championship or League One side could do much worse than sign him. He is a veteran and leader in the dressing room and could be a good short-term solution if your young keeper needs just another year to develop before being a regular.
