Out of favour Reading striker linked with Coventry City return

Out of favour Reading striker Marc McNulty is being linked with a return to former club Coventry City this summer according to reports by The Scottish Sun.

The 26-year-old Edinburgh-born frontman fired The Sky Blues to promotion from Sky Bet League Two in 2017/2018 but was sold to second tier club Reading shortly after the club’s victory in the play-off final at Wembley.

McNulty managed just one goal in 15 outings for The Royals and was loaned out to Ladbrokes Premiership club Hibernian during the second half of the campaign where he made a greater impact.

After bagging eight goals in 17 games for The Hibees, the Easter Road outfit are understood to want to sign the player on a permanent basis this summer, however, it has been suggested that Coventry City could approach Reading and make an offer to take the player back to the West Midlands.

During his one-year spell as a Sky Blue, McNulty produced his best campaign in-front of goal so far in his career. The Scot netted 28 goals in just 51 appearances, making him a real hit with the club’s fans.

Only Blackpool scored less goals that Coventry City in the top half of the Sky Bet League One table this season and a player of McNulty’s calibre could certainly help bridge the gap between The Sky Blues’ eighth-place finish and the play-offs.
