Rangers rumoured to have had second bid for Oldham Athletic ace rejected

Ladbrokes Premiership club Rangers are understood to have had a second transfer offer for defender George Edmundson rejected by Oldham Athletic according to reports by the Daily Record.

The Gers are said to be huge admirers of The Latics centre-back with manager Steven Gerrard keen to add the player to his squad this summer.

Rangers have recently seen a £400,000 transfer offer rejected by the Lancashire club. It has now been reported that the Glasgow giants have upped their offer by around £100,000 and included a number of clauses, however, that bid has also been rejected by Oldham Athletic.

Edmundson has enjoyed a successful season at Boundary Park in which he has made 54 appearances, scoring two goals. The player has expressed his desire to now leave the club and he has recently submitted a formal transfer request.

As well as the interest from north of the border, clubs in the Sky Bet Championship are also thought to be tracking Edmundson. Oldham Athletic value the youngster at close to £1 million and seem unlikely to let the player leave the club for much less than their valuation.

Edmundson joined Oldham Athletic at the age of just 15 and he has successfully graduated from the club’s academy system into the first team.
