West Brom could make their move for rivals manager

Birmingham City could face an approach from Championship rivals West Brom for their manager Garry Monk.

Albion have been without a manager since sacking Darren Moore back in March. Jimmy Shan took caretaker charge for the remainder of the season but they are now searching for someone with more experience.

Many names have been linked and reported, with the German Bruno Labbadia also being interviewed and in the frame for the job. However, with no previous experience of the English league he may provide a gamble for the West Midlands club.

Monk has proven himself at Swansea, and despite an underwhelming spell in charge at Leeds, he has been a fantastic acquisition at St. Andrews. Blues faced a nine point deduction during a crucial part of the season and this could have seriously affected their chance of survival however Monk led them to a 17th place finish and 12 points clear of the relegation zone.

With their finances now beginning to get in order, a top half finish is a distinct possibility next season with the right recruitment and if they can somehow keep hold of star striker Che Adams they could be looking at a very successful 2019/20 season.

Its not difficult to see why West Brom are interested in the 40 year old, someone with proven Championship experience as well as being known for being able to get the very best out of limited resources which is what the Baggies face next season with their parachute payments decreasing after failing to win promotion to the Premier League.
