Bristol Rovers boss Graham Coughlan comments about summer recruitment

Bristol Rovers are hoping to get their summer recruitment done early.

The Pirates finished 17th in League One this past season and are hoping to climb up the league in the next campaign.

There has been a number of departures since the end of the season including the likes of Stuart Sinclair, Tom Lockyer, Adam Smith and Chris Lines so there is room for manoeuvre now.

The Gas have offered new contracts to defender James Clarke, Joe Partington and Deon Moore.

Their manager, Graham Coughlan, has said, as per a report by Bristol Live: “I’d be pretty disappointed if James Clarke and Deon Moore decided their futures were elsewhere.”

“Parto’s a little bit different because he hasn’t been playing in the team – I fully understand where he’s coming from, he’s another who wanted to seek other options and have a look at what’s out there for him, such is his character and the nature of the lad, he just wants to play games.”

“I was always going to have this problem because I can’t guarantee people a starting place and modern day footballers want that guarantee.”

He added: “I’m going on holiday at the end of the month with my wife and kids so I’m anxious to get something done before then, not only to give the fans a bit of a lift but for my own sanity, really.”

The intent to get things done is obviously there from Coughlin as he looks to prepare for next season with Bristol Rovers.
