Portsmouth looking to revive transfer interest in Ipswich Town striker

Last summer transfer window, it was reported that League One side Portsmouth were keen on a deal for striker Ellis Harrison while he was at Bristol Rovers. Now, the Portsmouth News has claimed that Pompey are set to reignite their interest in the striker this summer.

Portsmouth News has reported that Portsmouth will look to revive their interest in Ipswich Town striker Ellis Harrison after they missed out on his signature last summer.

Harrison opted to make a summer move to Championship side Ipswich Town in 2018, joining from Bristol Rovers for a reported fee of £750,000. Kenny Jackett revived his interest in Harrison in January, looking to secure a loan deal but nothing materialised, despite Ipswich signings Will Keane and Colin Quaner pushing Harrison out of the first-team picture.

The Welshman has struggled to settle in his first season at Portman Road, playing 17 times in all competitions, scoring just one goal and providing one assist while contending with injury problems under former boss Paul Hurst.

Now, with Ipswich Town being relegated to League One, the striker is set to play his football in the third tier. But, with Portsmouth reportedly interested once again, it may not be with Ipswich Town.

Harrison came through the youth academy with Bristol Rovers, making his professional debut for the club in 2011. After seven years in the first-team at Memorial Stadium, Harrison played 204 times, representing the club in the National League, League Two and League One, netting 49 goals along the way, providing 17 assists for his teammates as well.
