The Sheffield Star has reported that newly promoted Sheffield United and newly relegated Fulham are both interested in HNK Rijeka defender Dario Zuparic, who is available for just £1.5 million.

HNK Rijeka centre-back Dario Zuparic is attracting interest from Sheffield United and Fulham, the Sheffield Star has reported.

Dario Zuparic has been on the radar of newly relegated Fulham for some time now, and they were close to completing a deal to sign him in the January transfer window. Now, they are reportedly looking to reignite their interest again this summer, but they will have to contend with Sheffield United in their chase to bring him to Craven Cottage.

Zuparic is believed to be available for just £1.5 million this summer. The defender has one year left on his contract at HNK Rijeka and they could look to cash in on him this summer rather than risk losing him on a free transfer at the end of next season.

Zuparic – who can also play in midfield – has featured heavily for HNK Rijeka over the course of his two-and-a-half-year spell with the club. He has played 94 times for the club since joining from Italian side Pescara, where he had previously spent four years playing in the Serie A and the Serie B.

The 27-year-old played 106 times for Pescara since joining in 2013. Prior to his move to Italy, Zuparic had spent his entire career in Croatia. He played for the youth sides at Granicar Zupanja and Cibilia Vinkovci, where he went on to make his break into senior football.
