Nottingham Forest striker attracting interest from Scotland, Germany and Turkey

Nottingham Forest striker Karim Ansarifard is on the radar of Scottish Premiership side Rangers, Football Insider has reported.

Football Insider has claimed that Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are considering a summer move for Nottingham Forest striker Karim Ansarifard.

Nottingham Forest need to shift on a number of players this summer. Martin O’Neill is looking to shape his squad as they look to improve on their disappointing campaign, which saw them finish in 9th. And, after a difficult first season in England, Ansarifard could be set to make way.

Ansarifard played just 12 games for Nottingham Forest after joining from Olympiacos, scoring two goals and providing two assists. He has struggled to prove himself in a difficult and disrupted season with Forest after joining from a free transfer and could depart to free up some room on both the club’s wage and transfer budget.

The striker has been linked with a move back to Greece with Aris Thessaloniki after previously enjoying prolific spells in Greece. Clubs from Germany and Turkey have also been credited with interest in the Iranian international.

Ansarifard started his senior career in his home country Iran, netting 44 goals in 96 games while playing for Saipa, Persepolis and Tractor Sazi. His form earned him a move to Spain, joining Osasuna. His move to Spain didn’t go as planned, as he made 17 appearances over the course of one season before heading to Greece.

In 2015, Ansarifard joined Super League side Panionios, where he scored 15 goals in 51 games. Two years later he joined giant Olympiacos, where he netted an impressive 22 goals in 48 games.
