Sheffield Wednesday confident this player will sign new contract

Sheffield Wednesday are confident that Fraser Preston will sign a new contract according to a report from the Sheffield Star.

The 20-year-old forward, who has been capped three times by the Scotland U19s, is seen as a top prospect at Hillsborough. When the club wasn’t able to bring anyone in due to a transfer embargo and had to look to their academy, Preston was one of the players who brought forward and so he made a few appearances for the Owls at the start of the season. He however has not made a senior appearance since Jos Luhukay was sacked as head coach and was replaced by Steve Bruce.

And with Preston’s contract set to expire in the summer, there was some concern he might leave. After getting a taste of first-team football, some thought he might try his luck and go to another team that would give him a place in the first team. Despite this fear, the Owls offered him a new deal which would keep him at Hillsborough beyond this summer.

And in what is good news for the club, they are confident that Preston will sign the new contract and stay with the South Yorkshire club. Even though Bruce is yet to use him in his team, Preston will still have a good chance of adding to his first-team appearances next season and with this being the club he has been at since he was an U14, Preston at the moment would find it to hard to leave.
