Marcelo Bielsa set to approve sale of Leeds United midfielder

A report from Football Insider has claimed that Leeds United will be selling midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi in the summer transfer window, claiming it could be for a “significant” fee.

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has given the green light for midfielder Yoskue Ideguchi to be sold by the club this summer, according to Football Insider.

While Bielsa’s future at Elland Road is yet to be resolved, discussions have been going on at Leeds United regarding who will be departing the club this summer. And, it seems that Ideguchi is one of the players set to be shown the exit door.

Ideguchi has not played once during his time at Leeds United, first going on loan to Spanish side Cultural Leonesa, where he started just one game, making four substitute appearances. In summer 2018, he agreed on a loan move to German outfit Greuther Furth, where he played seven times before suffering a serious knee injury.

Ideguchi’s departure from Leeds United may not come as much of a surprise given his forgettable spell with the club, but the claim that he could move for a “significant fee” may raise some eyebrows. Since joining Leeds in January of 2018 on a four-and-a-half-year deal, Ideguchi has played just 12 senior games of football – with none of them coming in a Leeds United shirt.

The 22-year-old joined from Japanese side Gamba Osaka, where he played 96 times after emerging from the club’s youth academy. He has represented the Japan national team on 12 occasions, making his debut at the age of 20 in 2017.
