Hull City retain interest in Aston Villa and AFC Bournemouth duo

Hull City have retained their interest in Tommy Elphick and Marc Pugh.

The experienced duo spent part of the past season on loan at the KCOM Stadium from Aston Vila and AFC Bournemouth respectively and remain on the Tigers’ radar, according to Hull Live.

Hull will continue to monitor the duo this summer but their cut-back budget could affect their chances of landing them.

Elphick, who is 31 years-old, spent the first half of the season on loan at Hull and made 18 appearances for the East Yorkshire side. He was a popular player amongst the fans and tightened up the Tigers’ defence.

The former Bournemouth captain is out-of-contract with Aston Villa next month and is likely to become a free agent.

Pugh, on the other hand, has already been told by Bournemouth that his contract with the Premier League side won’t be renewed and that is free to find a new club.

The tricky winger has put himself in the shop window after an impressive loan spell with Hull during the second half of the last campaign.

The 32-year-old scored three times in 14 games for Nigel Adkins’ side and again was popular with the Tigers’ faithful.

Pugh has played just under 500 games so far in his career and will be the subject of interest from many clubs this summer. Hull are keen on snapping him up, along with Elphick, but will have to put their hands in their pockets if they are to have any chance of it.
