Leeds United fans comment amidst ‘player gone’ rumours

Leeds United played out of their skins last season, the first season under Marcelo Bielsa. A Herculean effort saw them never drop from the top four in the Sky Bet Championship, eventually ending in 3rd place.

Bielsa reinvigorated a jobbing side that finished with typical Leeds United mid-table mediocrity in 13th place the season before. It was largely the same squad, albeit augmented in two way: a select few brought in and the promotion of youth from the Under-23s.

One of the players promoted was youngster Jack Clarke, a player Manchester City once tried to convince to sign for them rather than professional terms with the Whites.

After starring for the Under-23s, Clarke burst onto the scene in this season’s Sky Bet Championship with 22 appearances totalling 396 minutes. During his time on the pitch, Clarke racked up two goals (against Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest) as well as assists against Sheffield United and Derby County.

However, there are rumours that Spurs are showing serious interest in him, some media outlets going as far as to say that the Champions League finalists have entered a £10million bid. As with rumours of that sort, especially in the dead time between the end of one season and the opening of the next, they tend to garner a level of reaction.

That is definitely the case with this particular one involving Jack Clarke. It isn’t ameliorated, either, by the fact that Leeds United fans are already preparing themselves for what club owner Andrea Radrizzani has said will be a ‘difficult’ transfer window.

That is the case, here’s how some Leeds United fans have been commenting on Twitter about the possibility that Clarke could be moving on.

It’s something of a mixed bag response. However, should this be a move confirmed then you can expect the vitriol to be ramped up some on Twitter.
