League One shot-stopper undergoing medical with Ipswich Town

TWTD has reported that Gillingham goalkeeper Tomas Holy is undergoing a medical at Ipswich Town on Friday, with a deal set to be finalised.

It has been reported over the past few weeks that Ipswich Town have been interested in Gillingham goalkeeper Tomas Holy, and a deal looks set to be completed.

The 6ft 9in goalkeeper is reportedly at the club today (Friday) to undergo a medical and finalise a summer switch to Portman Road. The Czech ‘keeper is expected to make the move to Ipswich on a free transfer, with his contract at Priestfield with Gillingham expiring this summer.

TWTD writes that a deal is not yet fully completed, but is close to being finalised – pending a medical and the finalisation of some details.

Holy has been a mainstay in the Gillingham lineup for the past few seasons since joining from Czech side Sparta Prague. Holy has played 107 times for Gillingham since joining in 2017, playing in all but one League One game over the course of the past two seasons, keeping 25 clean sheets along the way.

Bartosz Bialkowski is expected to make the move away from Portman Road this summer. The Polish international has been the long-term number one for the club but is likely to return to the Championship. Dean Gerken will also be leaving the club this summer, after it was announced that the club would not be offering him a new deal.

Town are likely to be in the market for another ‘keeper when and if they complete a deal for Tomas Holy, but it seems that they are close to competing a deal for the Gills shot-stopper.
